Delicious, no bake, easy and EGGLESS Tiramisu recipe - my take on an Italian classic dessert. This non-tradtional eggless tiramisu recipe is the most perfect no bake dessert for every coffee lover.
If you ask me to list down the flavours that I love - coffee tops my list for sweet things and garlic for savoury. Give me anything coffee and I will be your biggest fan. Coffee flavoured chocolates? yes please! Espresso Martini? Why not π Tiramisu for dessert? Hell yes! I have always loved Tiramisu inspite of not being a fan of raw eggs and whenever eating at restaurants, I try to convince myself with every bite to not over think about the egg situation.
This eggless tiramisu recipe is in no case a traditional tiramisu recipe. A traditional tiramisu recipe contains raw egg whites and slightly cooked yolks and this is a no bake dessert. Since I am not a huge fan of raw eggs, I was on a mission to develop a delicious recipe for an eggless tiramisu. A classic tiramisu recipe does not contain cream cheese (in my knowledge) but I added about 1/3 cup for the texture. Before I mislead any of my readers, I do want to clarify, that the lady fingers in this recipe still contain egg - but they are store bought baked (already cooked!) biscuits - by EGGLESS tiramisu, what is meant here, is that this recipe is without the raw egg whites and the slightly cooked egg yolks that are added to the custard.
This recipe for eggless tiramisu is the easiest fuss-free recipe you will come across. The simplicity of this recipe can be witnessed on a video tutorial put on my Instagram account. While this blog post makes an easy 13 by 8 inch glass dish quantity of eggless tiramisu, the recipe tutorial on my Instagram stories makes one big (10 by 7 glass dish) and one small serving - roughly 6 extra slices. Things you need for eggless tiramisu:
- Tiramisu Ladyfingers - the spongy cake like texture in tiramisu is in reality no cake, but Italian biscuits called Tiramisu ladyfingers. These are easily available at INA market.
- Coffee mixture - very good quality espresso (or espresso shots) mixed with baileys
- Mascarpone cheese
- Cream cheese
- Whipping cream - regular heavy whipping cream with sugar and vanilla
- Cocoa powder
Lets get started with the recipe. Start by preparing the coffee mixture so that it can be cooled down to room temperature. Mix 4 tbsp espresso powder with hot water and add baileys to it. Keep aside to be used later.
Prepare the whipped cream: with a hand mixer, mix together whipping cream, sugar and vanilla essence. Transfer the whipping cream to refrigerator to be used later.
Prepare the "custard" for eggless tiramisu: mix together mascarpone, cream cheese and some baileys.
Fold the cold whipping cream into the custard mixture. Transfer to refrigerator to be used later.
Dip lady fingers one by one and place them on a large dish. Make sure you dip them for no more than 1 second (total) = 1/2 second per side.
Pour half of the mixture over the lady fingers
Spread and repeat the process for the second layer:
Cover with remaining custard cream and transfer to the refrigerator to set for at least 8 to 10 hours (preferably overnight)
Sprinkle cocoa powder before serving.

Hi Priya, as mentioned in the blog post - the lady fingers I used, have eggs in them. Whats meant by egg-less is the raw egg added to custard - which I have modified. I havent tried a brand that sells egg-free/ vegan lady fingers so cant recommend, sorry!
