Toasted pan fried gnocchi tossed in a simple garlic butter 'sauce', topped generously with parmesan - easy vegetarian meal for a busy week night.
One of the easiest vegetarian meals you are ever going to try, this pan fried gnocchi is going to be your favourite too. Crunchy, toasted, fried in some butter, flavoured with simple ingredients: garlic and basic seasoning. Plus a generous addition of freshly grated parmesan cheese that gets all melty and adds another delicious coating of crispiness to these little gnocchi bites. So yumm!

I remember getting hooked on to this recipe on my trip to Berlin in 2019. On all my trips, spending time in supermarkets has been my favorite thing to do! It goes without saying that the cheese section was my favorite, but what I also enjoyed, were pre-made raviolis, tortellinis and gnocchi. Very soon I discovered an easy way to prepare a gnocchi-meal that I would with salad, on repeat!!!
Absolutely uncomplicated, unbelievably easy and just the perfect combination of cheesy, crunchy, buttery gnocchi that is nicely toasted from the outside, yet soft and pillowy from inside. The best part about this easy vegetarian meal? Its ready in 15 minutes, which makes it perfect for a quick lunch or dinner recipe on a busy week night.Β

How to make pan fried gnocchi?
- Start by boiling some store bought gnocchi. If it is frozen, you would want to thaw it for some time on the kitchen counter and then add it so hot boiling water. Cook the gnocchi only until it begins to float on the top surface of the water pot.Β

- Now add the gnocchi to a pan that has hot melted butter. Add garlic over it and keep stirring until the gnocchi is toasted golden brown in colour.Β
- Add salt, pepper and parmesan cheese. Keep mixing for a few more seconds and voila, its ready!

Simple, delicious and probably the easiest gnocchi recipe! Enjoy it with some fresh arugula salad or homemade bread and a glass of wine - call it a date night π

Possible variations/ questions?
- What kind of gnocchi to use? - use whatever you like. Potato gnocchi is the best, which makes it taste like pan fried potato bites, tossed in garlic and butter. You can also use cauliflower gnocchi if you like or make at home, if you are up for a gnocchi project π
- Possible additions? I highly recommend adding some mushrooms to the gnocchi. These garlic pepper mushrooms would be awesome for this pan fried gnocchi recipe.Β
- Where to find gnocchi in India? - I have been able to find imported gnocchi at reasonable prices in INA market (New Delhi). You can also find them at international stores/ exchange supermarkets like Foodhall.
- What to serve with toasted gnocchi? Munch on them as it is as an appetiser or snack. Or serve with refreshing salads or breads. Finish the meal with a delicious homemade tiramisu and thank me later πΒ

which brand of parmesan do you buy? and from where? i am unable t ofind them inm umbai
Hello Sam, I use the one thats local in my super market. Fresh parmesan π Highly recommend using fresh and not pre-shredded, because pre-shredded is usually tossed in a lot of corn flour and that affects the taste.
I was just looking up gnocchi recipes . This looks delicious ! I see your are from New Delhi . Stay safe and healthy to you and your loved ones .
