Nothing beats the classic snacking of guac and tortilla chips! With Avocados now being easily available at supermarkets in Delhi, we instantly thought of making Guacamole at home. A serving of guac and tortilla chips at any restaurant would be so heavy on pocket, but why do that, when you can make Guacamole so easily at home? Plus its super healthy.
The avocados that we purchased were not ripe enough and we looked through the internet for some basic tips for ripening them at home: it was so simple! You just need to put the three pieces of avocados in a brown paper bag with 2 apples and WAIT- yes thats the bad part here, you will have to wait for 2 days until you get completely ripen avocados. Just make sure that you put the bag in a dark closed place (probably some kitchen cabinet) and keep checking twice a day to see if they are ready or not. Once when the light green colour turns into the shade of dark green-purple-brownish, you know these avocados are ready to be used to make Guac.
So you basically start by mashing the avocados and then simply add everything else to it! You might wanna think about how you want the end result to be - for a chunky Guacamole, you can chop the avocados and then add the onions and tomatoes, or do the classic way - as done in this post - by mashing them completely to form a paste like consistency.
*We used homemade cumin powder for this recipe- you can do that too! Simply dry roast a tsp of cumin seeds and smash them with the help of the rolling pin and add this powder to the guac 🙂
