It is crazy to see this thick and creamy coffee trend going viral on TikTok, Instagram and Facebook and of course, I gave in too, and gave this frothy coffee a try - to my surprise, it was easier to make that you would actually think.
And guess what? This dalgona coffee that we are seeing across social media, is exactly what we have been making since ages with warm milk and serving it as hand beaten aka. whipped coffee aka. frothy hot coffee or Indian style homemade frothy cappuccino.
What is dalgona coffee?
- in simple words: just your regular cold coffee, but a frothier version. Made with just water, sugar and instant coffee powder, dalgona coffee is more like a coffee flavoured ice cream milk shake version of your regular cold coffee made at home.
How to make Dalgona Coffee?
- start by adding equal quantities of instant coffee powder, sugar and water in a bowl
- with the help of a hand mixer, mix for 4 minutes until soft peaks of frothy whipped coffee cream is formed
- these soft peaks you see here? this is the kind of consistency that you are looking for.
- now fill a small glass with lots of ice & pour milk on it.
- add two tablespoons of whipped frothy dalgona coffee on it and serve.

- can dalgona coffee be made without a hand mixer? yes. use a wire whisk, but be prepared to spend double the time, but then again- it is totally worth it. Mix for 8-10 minutes with a wire whisk and you have a frothy coffee cream mixture ready. Alternatively, you can also use milk frother for whisking the coffee, sugar and water.

Ingredients
- 2 tbsp instant coffee powder
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 1/2 cup milk
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add coffee, sugar and water.
- With the help of a hand mixer, whip the coffee, sugar and water for 4 minutes on medium speed or until soft peaks are formed. Keep aside.
- Add ice cubes to a glass and pour milk over it. Add 2 tbsp of the whipped coffee mix to the glasses and sprinkle some cocoa powder. Serve.
