This homemade crunchy granola served over some yogurt + some berries/ any other fresh fruit will be your next favourite thing to eat for breakfast. We love homemade granola and love experimenting with different flavours and toppings to make an interesting and filling breakfast.
This crunchy granola recipe can be customised to your liking. We love our granola mixed with honey, vanilla, nuts and chocolate chips. We used almonds and walnuts for this, but you can also add some cashew nuts to this if you want. Feel free to also add different kind of chocolate chips or peanut butter chips to make it even tastier.

You start by mixing together oats with some unsalted butter and honey + vanilla. We used The Gourmet Jar Vanilla Honey for this recipe.
This Gourmet Jar Vanilla Honey has tiny bits of real vanilla beans in it which makes it so pure. It was the finest choice for this crunchy granola recipe that gave it the perfect sweetness and the vanilla flavour we were hoping for.
You simple mix together all your ingredients except the chocolate chips. The chocolate chips will be added later to prevent the chips from melting in the oven.
Transfer the oat mixture on a baking tray and bake for 15 minutes (mixing in between!)
Once the granola is cooked, let it cool and add the chocolate chips.
Transfer the granola to a jar to be used later.
Enjoy your granola with some yogurt.
Or add some fruit to it like fresh berries, bananas etc 🙂

Crunchy Granola
Easy crunchy granola with nuts, vanilla, honey and chocolate chips
- 1 1/2 Cup Oats
- 1/3 Cup Mixed Nuts (Walnuts + Almonds)
- 1/4 Cup Mixed Chocolate Chips (White, Milk & Dark)
- 2 Tbsp Vanilla flavoured Honey ((see recipe notes))
- 2 Tbsp Unsalted Butter
-
Preheat the oven to 180 degree celsius.
-
In a small bowl mix honey and unsalted butter. Microwave for a couple of minutes.
-
In a large bowl, add oats, nuts and the mixed honey and butter mixture. Mix well until oats are well coated with the wet mixture.
-
Line a baking tray with foil paper and transfer the oat mixture to the baking tray and bake for 8 minutes until the oats start turning brown in colour.
-
Take the tray out of the oven and give the granola a quick mixing (bringing all corner sides to the centre of the tray) and bake again for 7-8 minutes. Keep an eye on this as it can burn very quickly.
-
Once baked and turned brown in colour, let the granola rest (and cool) on the baking tray for about 20 minutes.
-
Once it has cooled down, add the chocolate chips and mix everything together before transferring this to a jar.
If you would like to add honey and vanilla separately, then mix together 2 tbsp of honey with 1/2 tsp of vanilla essence for this recipe.
